General description of the position:
The Medical Assistant provides clinical support to physicians, ensuring patient care and satisfaction during examinations and other medical procedures. This position requires exceptional organizational and communication skills to support a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Interview patients to collect vital statistics and record information in medical records.
- Accompany patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.
- Assist physicians with tasks such as administering injections and removing sutures.
- Educate patients about their illnesses and reinforce physician instructions.
- Review and ensure the integrity of medical records.
- Prepare referrals and coordinate with the Referral department.
- Authorize medication refills and communicate with pharmacies when necessary.
- Address patient concerns and maintain a high level of care.
- Effective use of EMR systems (e.g. MDVita2000).
- Performs the duties of absent employees when necessary.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- State of Florida Physician Assistant Certification.
- Previous experience preferred.
- Preferably bilingual (Spanish/English).
