General description of the position:
The Part-Time Dentist provides comprehensive dental care to patients, focusing on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of oral health conditions. This role primarily serves the geriatric population, ensuring that their unique dental needs are met in a compassionate and effective manner.
Key responsibilities:
- Examines patients' teeth, gums and oral health to identify conditions or problems.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene maintenance and preventive care.
- Administer treatment for cavities, fractured teeth and gum disease.
- Extract decayed or damaged teeth when necessary and discuss treatment options with patients.
- Design and fit dental appliances such as dentures or bridges.
- Controls X-ray imaging and diagnostic tools to confirm conditions.
- Prescribe medications or antibiotics as needed.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate patient records, ensuring compliance with health regulations.
- Refer patients to specialists for advanced treatments or procedures.
Qualifications:
- DMD or DDS degree from an accredited institution.
- Active dental license from the State of Florida.
- Previous experience working with geriatric patients.
- Bilingual proficiency is highly desirable.
